Beyond Hunger, Building Hope

a Campaign for The Caring Cupboard.

BEYOND HUNGER, BUILDING HOPE is a community-focused, capital campaign that will culminate in a 26,000 sq. ft. community center, benefiting the Palmyra and Annville Cleona, Pa. communities. This center will feature a modern and innovative Caring Cupboard, continuing the long tradition of providing sustainable food to those in need; community space for use by local organizations and for family services such as health education, wellness screening, and more; and, 12 one-bedroom, affordable housing units, expanding our ability to provide sustainable living options for our community.

Our community needs this space now more than ever. The COVID pandemic and subsequent economic challenges demonstrated how quickly families can become financially unstable and require the help of friends and neighbors. In Lebanon County, nearly 10% of the population is food insecure or the condition of not knowing where they’ll get their next meal.

This building project will allow The Caring Cupboard to expand its reach to the growing number of food-insecure individuals in our community. It will allow The Caring Cupboard to enhance its service and offer access to health care and dental care services. It will provide much-needed space for community members to gather, as well as critical affordable housing to meet the unmet needs in our county. We believe that social infrastructure leads to social capital—the building of networks, mutual support, and collaboration, and we believe that this project will do just that for our community.

Together

Together, as a community, we rise up and help to provide food to our most vulnerable friends and neighbors. Together, we provide meals for our family and friends to break bread during holidays, celebrations, and casual dinners. Together, we provide memories of a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings to those struggling in our neighborhoods. Together, we provide hope to single parents barely scraping by, to seniors making decisions between food and medicine, and to children who won’t go to bed hungry tonight. Because together is so much more impactful than apart.
